Hello, I’m Emily! I’m an illustrator based in Cambridge. I mainly work in monoprint with hand-drawn elements.
When creating my monoprints I love working playfully, I respond to every layer and let it lead the way on what needs to happen next. I enjoy the physicality of printmaking and embracing the mess, the whole process feels childlike and that’s why I find it a great technique for illustrating children’s books. In all my work, when painting illustrations or drawing from observation, I use texture and rich colours. As a child, I loved to escape reality, so many of my stories have a fantasy element.

The Spell’s Begun is a story about three sea witches who uphold an ancient pact. These witches bring magic to the town once a year in exchange the town will keep their secret, however, the people begin to wonder… are the witches lonely living out at sea?
