Emma Wood (she/her)
Hello! I’m Emma, currently living in Oxford, UK.
For me, being creative - whether that's drawing, painting, sewing, or even just rearranging the furniture - is when I am most happy. In 2017 I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in English and began working in fundraising in London, but knew I wasn't pursuing my creative aspirations. That’s why I started the MA - and it’s changed my life!
Having no formal background in studying art I was initially very nervous but now can’t imagine life without drawing. I have grown to love using a variety of media (especially gouache) and attending life drawing classes regularly to inform my illustration work. I find inspiration from a whole host of things: Studio Ghibli, Matisse, my love of sewing, complementary colours, and I love a good rooftop!
I now work in publishing, within production, and it’s such a joy to work with books everyday - even if I’m not drawing, at least I can nerd out about paper. I would love to use my skills and expertise going forward to illustrate, publish, design, and produce children’s books - and if there was a book about sewing, that would be a dream!
