Chunying Liu (she/her)
Chunying Liu, an author and illustrator based in the UK. She used to be a traditional Chinese painter and completed her MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art in 2025.
Her artworks usually convey observations of the world and personal feelings, and the images tends to be more narrative using abstract shapes, fine lines, and compositions to achieve metaphorical effects. she prefers to work in traditional drawing media on sketchbook, which makes her to relax and enjoy the process. However, she has also experimented with electronic painting over the past year, which has given her a lot of inspiration.

The Selfish King
My first project is about Mr Spider who always plans and prepares too much for the future and misses out on the beauty of the present. For this story I use a more narrative visual language to present.
