Help! I’m Charlie and I can’t stop drawing! It is an enormous source of pleasure for me, and I always carry pencils and small sketchbooks because I never know when something will catch my eye or an idea drop into my head.

I draw to think and to have fun. Growing up I wanted to be an animator but then studied Fine Art. Performances then turned into a hospitality business, but I never stopped drawing, or designing labels and illustrating. I often found myself drawn to ‘what-ifs’ and ‘why-nots’ and this inquisitive-fun must have germinated in childhood, reading all sorts of picture books spread out on the floor.

It’s amazing how even the simplest marks create believable realities, and it’s this potential of drawings that I’m now dedicated to. I still love drawing on the floor on an enormous sheet of paper and pencil and paint.
