Becki Harper (she/her)

Hello, I'm Becki! I'm originally from Middlesbrough but have made my home in York. As an illustrator my work is focused on storytelling, and is inspired by simple everyday observations which intertwine to create humorous, relatable and thought provoking narratives. I make these stories to explore and understand the world around me, and to connect to my audience on an emotional level. My work has a strong sense of place, describing both human made and natural landscapes. I love considering the character of buildings because it can say a lot about the inhabitants. I use traditional materials such as watercolours, gouache, and pencils to investigate mark making and colour in an intuitive and tactile way.
